Cooking cabbage rolls in a slow cooker:
Step 1: Prepare the cabbage.
Peel the cabbage by removing the upper leaves, which have become stale and therefore unsuitable for cooking. Then, with a sharp and long knife, cut the stump.
In a large pot, draw water, add half a tablespoon of salt and dip the cabbage. Important: the pan should be suitable in size, that is, it can fully contain a head of cabbage so that the whole vegetable is lowered into the water, otherwise you will have to turn the cabbage over and repeat the procedure. Bring the water in the pan to a boil and reduce the heat to medium. Cook cabbage 7-10 minutes. Then drain the liquid, carefully take out the head of cabbage and separate the soft cabbage leaves from each other.
For cabbage leaves, remove the thickening at the bottom with a knife so that they easily curl or fold without breaking.
Step 2: Cook the minced meat.
First you need to prepare rice. To do this is quite simple, just put the cereal in a colander and rinse it several times with cold water. Then shake the rice and wait until excess moisture drains.
While water flows from the rice, there is time to prepare onions and carrots. Onions need to be peeled, and carrots, respectively, from the peel. Then grind the vegetables just by passing them through a grater, if desired, you can also crush them with a knife into small cubes or straws.
Now mix the washed rice, chopped vegetables and minced pork with egg and spices. Stir the mixture until smooth to evenly distribute all the ingredients, as well as salt and pepper.
Step 3: Form the cabbage rolls.
To form cabbage rolls, spread a sheet of cabbage in front of you on the board and lay out on one edge the prepared mixture of minced meat, rice and vegetables. Wrap cabbage rolls in the way you are used to, folding it with an envelope, rolling it with a roll or a bag. Make sure they are well folded and will not break apart during cooking.
Step 4: Cook the sauce.
Boil a glass of water in a teapot, wait until it cools slightly and pour it into a bowl. Now dilute a few tablespoons of tomato paste in the water and add as needed more salt and other spices that you prefer to use for cooking.
Step 5: Cook the cabbage rolls in the slow cooker.
Cut the butter into very thin slices and lay them on the bottom of the multicooker. Put cabbage rolls in oil, if you don’t fit all the products in one layer, it’s okay, put them in two, the main thing is that they are almost completely covered with water and tomato paste, so you may need to increase the amount of this sauce. Choose a mode "Extinguishing" on your device and set the timer to 40 minutes. Close the lid and start cooking. As soon as the signal indicating the end of the program sounds, carefully remove the lid so as not to burn yourself with steam, take out the finished cabbage rolls and start serving them on the table.
Step 6: Serve the cabbage rolls.
Ready-made cabbage rolls need to be served immediately, as they say, in the heat of the heat. No additional sauce, besides the one in which they were prepared, should not be offered, unless decorate the plate with a small amount of sour cream. It is also worth complementing your lunch with a few slices of fresh bread. That's all! Treat others and enjoy yourself.
Enjoy your meal!
