Cranberry Pie Ingredients

  1. Puff yeast dough 500 grams
  2. Cranberries (fresh or frozen) 1 cup
  3. Sugar 1 cup
  4. Orange (only zest is needed) 1 piece
  5. Black tea (tea leaves) optional

Cooking Cranberry Pie:

Step 1: prepare the cranberry filling.

Remove the zest from the orange by rubbing it on a fine grater and pour into a skillet or stewpan. Add half a glass of sugar and put everything on medium heat. Stir occasionally until you have syrup.
Pour the cranberries into the citrus sugar syrup. Be careful, they may begin to hiss and splatter. Therefore, immediately close the cranberries in the syrup with a lid and, reducing the heat to a minimum, cook the berries like this for 1 minutes.

Then open the lid and mix everything thoroughly. The aroma will be just amazing.

Step 2: prepare the dough.

Defrost a layer of puff yeast dough according to the instructions on the packaging. Then roll the dough with a rolling pin into a thin rectangle. And so that nothing sticks to the countertop, sprinkle it and a rolling pin with wheat flour.

Step 3: make a cranberry pie.

Warm cranberries in sugar syrup, smear the middle of the rectangle from the dough. Do not come close to the edges, since in the process of folding the filling will still creep. Sprinkle the remaining sugar over the cranberries.

Wrap the dough with berry filling in the roll, tightly pressing the seam. The edges do not need to be sealed.
Cut the resulting roll into several equal parts. If your dough will creep up and not very neat edges will be obtained, it’s okay when it is baked, everything will be beautiful.

Step 4: bake a cranberry pie.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Transfer the dough into a greased form. Lay the pieces of roll close to each other so that they stick together during cooking.
Grease the top of the pie with tea leaves (you can also grease with whipped yolk) and send the cranberry pie to the oven on 25 minutes, or until a beautiful brown crust is formed.
Attention: if you have a filling that leaked during the assembly process, simply spread it on top before sending everything to the oven.
When the cranberry pie is ready, take it out of the oven and start making tea or coffee, the pastries will just cool down in just 10-15 minutes and it can be served to the table.

Step 5: serve the cranberry pie.

The cranberry pie is very tasty and aromatic. Even sweet tooths will like this, despite the fact that it is prepared from a rather sour berry. Nevertheless, the filling is sweet and not sugary at the same time. When serving, cut the pie into pieces or disassemble into buns. Such pastries can be eaten both in a warm form and after it has cooled down well. In my opinion, just after cooling, a cranberry pie is most delicious.
